During the post-WW2 era, the United States had control over Japan, resulting in the "rebuilding" of the Japanese economy. Surprisingly, a number of Japanese businesses hired American companies for production due to the low cost and perceived lower quality of Japanese manufacturing at the time. However, in the 60s, Japanese production quality experienced a significant improvement and manufacturing became highly specialized.

A clear example is this incredible rayon Hawaiian shirt. It's incredibly soft and light with a great print. In excellent shape shape.

Made by Penney's, a great company back then and a staple of vintage style today.
