The Quartermaster Catalog describes the "Jacket, Field, od, ARCTIC" as "A hip length jacket of wind-proof, water-repellent cotton cloth, with kersey lining. The jacket is designed to fit over sweaters or other warm garments for additional warmth."
This specific pattern was produced and used for a very limited time during WW2.
Condition of this jacket is near to dead stock, (just the collar is patched, please see the photo) the details of the chinstrap is extremely interesting. The division patch is the 9th infantry, which fought in many war theater during the ww2 like Africa, France and Italy.
